I was so excited to see the return of the Cirque Alfonse – the 3 generational (mostly bearded) circus company from Quebec – that I booked my ticket well in advance.
And it didn’t disappoint both in terms of facial hair (wowsers) and thrilling stunts and acts including axe juggling, log balancing and beards flying through the air. Really! Mix that with songs, some dance and charming jokes and you have the prefect bearded evening.

The family of lumberjack performers from Quebec bring back their smash-hit, log-balancing, wood-chucking, axe-juggling spectacular for 2014.
A show for all the family, Timber! brings together circus, theatre, dance, live traditional music and the folklore of Quebec. It’s a wild ride of gravity-defying acrobatics and thrilling tricks with metal saws, axes and logs from the Alfonse’s family farm.
Featuring phenomenal feats of agility and strength, Timber! stars the whole family from 66-year-old grandad Alain to three-year-old grandson Arthur.
Cirque Alfonse was founded in 2005 and the family has worked with some of the world’s most renowned circuses including Cirque du Soleil, Cirkus Cirkor and Les 7 Doigts de la Main.
Don’t miss this joyous family show that critics raved about and audiences took to their hearts.

They are still on until the 4th January in Brighton before heading off to sunnier climates at the Sydney Festival so check out their website below for any remaining tickets. Otherwise sit back, enjoy the video and patiently wait for their return in the not too distant future
